EMI, MP3tunes Court Case Approaches

MP3tunes head Michael Robertson has been writing about the January 28 court date for his company’s legal battle with record label EMI. According to Robertson, oral arguments will be presented on the matters at hand, with the judge questioning both sides but not issuing a decision for some time.

Robertson hopes the questions will give a sense of how the judge is leaning and plans to share what is asked on both sides.

Robertson also had some barbed words for Sony Music’s Thomas Hesse, who criticized “shady” digital locker services at the recent MIDEM conference.

“I’m not sure legal criticism from the company who tried to secretly install software to control your PC triggering a class action lawsuit (rootkit), been involved in multiple anti-trust actions include price fixing, and who’s artist accounting is under constant criticism and lawsuits has much credibility,” wrote Robertson.

Robertson’s comments can be found at http://www.michaelrobertson.com/, though we’ll stick with coverage of what’s submitted to the court and of its eventual outcome, expected in the summer months.
